Extra Curricular Program
Fun & Creativity
Art and Drama
In Montessori Happy Minds, the children will be involved in many activities to learn about different artist’s styles, and art techniques based on their interests. The children will be involved in drama through books, puppet shows and social story performances to increase engagement and interest in learning, creative thinking and imagination, growth of problem-solving skills, and strengthening of memory and information retention & retrieval.
Music
Music ignites all areas of child development and skills for school readiness, including intellectual, social emotional, motor, language, and overall literacy. It helps the body and the mind work together. Exposing children to music during early development helps them learn the sounds and meanings of words. Dancing to music helps children build motor skills while allowing them to practice self-expression. For children and adults, music helps strengthen memory skills. In our program we learn music through songs, dance, and performance concert as well as: 1) Montessori Happy minds music program includes the basic skills (keyboard level 1,2) for children 5-8 years old. This is where children will choose to learn music from assigned teachers. 2) ZUMBINI Program: Music and Movement for the Caregiver and Child. In our Zumbini program, the children work on gross motor development (moving to the music and participating in other movement activities) and explore the many ways their bodies can move. Through movement activities, they can improve large muscle skills, balance, and coordination. They strengthen small muscle skills as they learn finger plays and play musical instruments.

SportFun
In Montessori Happy Minds we work as a team to enhance the children’s team building skills and sportsmanship by opening the opportunities to our children to participate in different sport activities to gain the skills they need for healthy development. Athletic activities will be introduced to the children based on their age starting from our Bambini program (Infant/Toddlers) where the children will be exposed to a small number of athletic activities to get them primed for sports when they get a bit older such as throwing, catching, tumbling, walking/running, kicking, sorting balls, rolling, and balancing activities. In Montessori Happy Minds we teach the children the basic skills to learn many sport games with the help of volunteers from our community such as basketball, baseball, soccer, obstacle course, foam ball, relay games, tag games and different more fun physical games based on the children’s age. Playing sports outdoors with many kids together can improve general social development, as well as leadership, self-esteem, and general teamwork through the construct of the sports games themselves. We will also aim to help the children plan athletic events with other communities to provide the children with opportunities to improve and enjoy their time with other people.
Yoga
In Montessori Happy Minds, we offer Yoga In My School level 1 sessions to our children. The mission is to share mindfulness and yoga skills inspiring others to be their best selves. Our yoga programs are flexible and customized to meet our children’s needs. We do yoga through fun games, once a Upon the Pose guide and the imaginations relaxations stories will guide us to create interactive and fun yoga sessions which fosters body awareness, builds resiliency, improves social skills, increases calm, cultivates self-regulation and reduces stress. Yoga enables children to develop healthy habits from an early age. It supports physical, emotional, and mental wellness and development of children by combining yoga poses with engaging songs and stories which exercise social, sensory, and motor skills.

Summer Camp
In the months of July and August, we offer a summer experience program for the children. Field trips, arts, crafts, music, drama, sport, outdoor activities and coding. Your child will be able to socialize with others in fun, exciting and challenging environment. A Summer Experience Program brochure listing the schedule events may be obtained from the director.
Meditation
Using meditation strategies in our classroom: Teaching kids to look after their minds is just as important as teaching them how to care for their bodies. Introducing children to meditation early will help them learn how to calm their minds and use healthy coping mechanisms for the rest of their lives. Children can learn how to meditate by giving them the age-appropriate tools they need to practice and joining them while they do it, kids can initiate moments of calm, bring about self-awareness, and begin to connect their mind and body.
